About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is procuring vacuum gauge equipment for its BL-4 Vacuum Gauges project to support the CHIPS initiative at the Physical Measurement Laboratory's Sensor Science Division. The solicitation seeks five rough vacuum gauges capable of measuring 10-3 torr to 1 atmosphere, five cold cathode vacuum gauges for 10-10 torr to 10-2 torr range, and three vacuum gauge controllers configured to operate both gauge types. Technical specifications require UHV compatibility, ConFlat flange mounting, and 10-foot cables, with the controller specifically needing configuration for two cold cathode gauges and two rough vacuum gauges as a complete operational system. The procurement will be evaluated using the lowest-priced, technically acceptable quotation methodology with a required 24-month warranty. Quotations must be submitted electronically by August 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM EST, with delivery required within 12 weeks of order receipt.
This procurement is set aside for Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) participation and will utilize simplified acquisition procedures for award. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the solicitation documentation, and the estimated contract value is not disclosed. The equipment quantities total thirteen items across three categories, representing a specialized vacuum measurement system for semiconductor-related research applications. Performance will occur at NIST's Gaithersburg, Maryland facility, specifically at the SURF III Facility, supporting the agency's advanced measurement science capabilities. The procurement falls under NAICS code 333242 for Semiconductor Machinery Manufacturing and PSC code 6640 for Laboratory Equipment and Supplies, reflecting the technical nature of the specialized vacuum measurement instrumentation being acquired.

AMENDMENT TO SOLICITATION 1333ND25QNB030396
VACUUM GAUGES
Vendor Questions:
Nist lists 275 Convectron gauge and 423 cold cathode gauge. The 937B-US-NANANA-NA however is a base model with no control cards. Is NIST seeking a complete system with a configured 937B model to control the 275 and 423 gauges?
What lengths does NIST need; 10’, 25’ or 50’.
NIST Responses:
In the SoW, line item 0003 specification A(b) calls for the controller to be "Configured for 2 cold cathode gauges and 2 rough vacuum gauges.” This is intended to require any cards or additional components such that the controller can actually control the specified gauges. Yes, we are looking for a complete system with a configured 937B model to control the 275 and 423 gauges.
Cable lengths of ten (10) feet will be adequate.
