The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) anticipates issuance of a Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) VA118A-12-RP-00118 for Real Time Location Systems (RTLS). In support of VA Transformation Initiative Health Care Efficiency, the RTLS solution shall support the objectives of focused clinical and administrative process efficiency and total asset visibility. The mission of the RTLS Program is to provide multiple technologies to include Wi-Fi based location finding, active and passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and a number of other location technologies, such as ultrasound and infrared when a Wi-Fi based solution is not feasible. These technologies will be used to track the location and flow of assets and people, as well as monitoring factors, such as temperature. The purpose of the RTLS solution is to improve the efficiency of targeted business processes in its hospitals, clinics, offices and cemeteries to support the missions of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and other VA entities. The designated North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334119, Other Computer Peripheral Equipment with a business size standard of 1-1000 employees. TAC VA is contemplating award of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) firm-fixed price contract in accordance with FAR Part 15, Contracting by Negotiation.
