About this opportunity
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has issued a Request for Information seeking market research for a UxV Range Support Craft to support unmanned surface and subsurface vehicle research and testing operations at NUWC Keyport. The craft must be a maximum of 65 feet in length with capacity for 8 passengers plus 2 crew members, capable of achieving minimum 20-knot transit speeds and operating within a 450 nautical mile range in Puget Sound and surrounding waters. Key technical requirements include deck capacity of 8,000-10,000 pounds, hydraulic lifting capabilities for UxV deployment and retrieval, comprehensive communication and navigation systems, and environmental monitoring capabilities for range security functions. The RFI seeks industry input on vessel design approaches and technical solutions, with responses due by October 28, 2025. The Navy plans to issue a potential solicitation in the second quarter of FY26, though this RFI represents market research only and does not constitute a commitment to procure.
This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors, though the Navy specifically encourages participation from small businesses, veteran-owned enterprises, and women-owned businesses. No current incumbents or existing contractors are identified in the documentation, suggesting this may represent a new capability requirement. The RFI does not specify budget ranges or potential award values, focusing instead on gathering technical and commercial information from industry. Delivery is planned for FY26, with the single craft intended to serve ongoing research and testing operations supporting the Navy's unmanned systems programs. The procurement falls under NAICS code 336612 for Boat Building and PSC category 1940 for Small Craft, indicating the specialized maritime nature of this requirement.
