About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Hill Air Force Base is preparing to procure parachute release devices through a Firm Fixed Price contract anticipated to be awarded in September 2025. The pre-solicitation notice describes two specific National Stock Number (NSN) parachute release components, each with complex specifications involving aluminum housing, circuit boards, batteries, electro-explosive initiators, and specialized explosive materials. Contractors must submit a qualification package as outlined in FAR 52.209-1, and proposals without this package will not be considered. The solicitation will be made available on SAM.gov in June 2025, with responses due by May 20, 2025. Interested vendors are encouraged to review the detailed technical specifications, which include precise descriptions of the electronic and mechanical components.

The contract is not set aside for small businesses and appears to be specifically targeted toward MISSION SYSTEMS DAVENPORT, INC. (CAGE: 99251), which is identified as the anticipated qualified source. The procurement involves two distinct NSN parachute release units: one with an estimated quantity of 2,863 units and another with 1,535 units, totaling 4,398 devices. The contract falls under the Explosives Manufacturing NAICS category (325920) and the Cartridge And Propellant Actuated Devices And Components PSC category (1377). While specific contract value is not disclosed, the complexity of the components and the substantial quantity suggest a significant procurement effort. The devices are highly specialized, containing advanced electronic and explosive components designed for precise mechanical release functions.
