About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Academy is conducting a Sources Sought Request for Information (RFI) for a UV Electro Optic Modulator system, specifically seeking market research to explore potential vendor capabilities. The RFI focuses on determining vendors who can supply a modulator operating at a 252 nm wavelength for specialized materials and manufacturing processes. Potential respondents must indicate their business size category under NAICS code 334516, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. Interested vendors are required to provide detailed documentation about their capabilities, including technical specifications supporting the 252 nm wavelength requirement. The response deadline is April 11, 2025, at 3:00 pm MST, with all submissions to be sent directly to Susan Ulma via email at susan.ulma@us.af.mil.
This is a preliminary market research effort and does not constitute a formal solicitation or guarantee of future contract award. No set-aside status has been predetermined, and the Air Force will use the collected information to shape the eventual acquisition strategy. The RFI explicitly states that the government will not reimburse respondents for any information or administrative costs associated with the response. Vendors are advised that not responding will not disqualify them from potential future opportunities, and all future solicitation details will be published on sam.gov. Respondents are requested to provide their socio-economic business category, confirm wavelength capabilities, submit a point of contact with SAM unique number, and include any additional relevant comments that might inform the Air Force's procurement approach.

The Government is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Respondees are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any potential future RFQ. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Contract Opportunities website (sam.gov). It is the responsibility of potential offerors to monitor this site for additional information pertaining to this requirement.
The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research, a continuous process for collecting and analyzing information about capabilities within the market to satisfy agency needs. The acquisition strategy has not yet been determined and market research results will assist the United States Air Force in determining the direction any acquisition will take.
