About this opportunity
The General Services Administration (GSA), Region 8, is seeking a small business contractor to renovate and remodel 8,557 rentable square feet of existing U.S. Marshals Service space within the Pierre Federal Building/Courthouse/Post Office in Pierre, South Dakota. The project involves upgrading office spaces and holding cells on the fourth floor to meet USMS Publication 64 requirements, adding an additional office, isolation holding cell, and conference room on the second floor, and constructing a new command and control center on the first floor. The contract falls under the Commercial and Institutional Building Construction NAICS category (236220) and the Repair or Alteration of Office Buildings PSC category. While specific evaluation criteria are not detailed in the pre-solicitation notice, contractors will likely be assessed on their ability to meet precise renovation specifications and compliance with federal building standards. The pre-solicitation was posted on December 12, 2024, with a response deadline of January 12, 2025.
This contract opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, meaning only small businesses are eligible to compete for the project. The renovation aims to address increased staffing needs for the U.S. Marshals Service and modernize existing facilities that are currently outdated. Although specific budget details are not provided, the substantial square footage and comprehensive renovation scope suggest a significant project value. The project will require precise construction management to minimize disruption to federal operations while upgrading the building's functionality. Contractors should be prepared to work within a potentially complex federal building environment, coordinating closely with GSA and U.S. Marshals Service personnel to ensure successful completion of the renovation work.
