Update #1 ·

The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (USAID/OSDBU) and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Washington Metropolitan Area District Office (SBA/WMADO) are co-hosting a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Conference on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at SBA Headquarters located at 409 Third Street, SW, Eisenhower Conference Room, Washington, DC 20416.

We invite HUBZone Program Participants to attend this session to 1) become familiar with processes and procedures associated with contracting with USAID; and 2) to identify and pursue contract opportunities with USAID for the HUBZone Program.

The session will feature presentations from:

SBA’s HUBZone Office - SBA's HUBZone program is in line with the efforts of both the Administration and Congress to promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing access to more federal contracting opportunities;

General Services Administration (GSA) - GSA serves as the acquisition and procurement arm of the federal government, offering equipment, supplies, telecommunications, and integrated information technology solutions to federal agencies so that the agencies can focus on doing what they do best—serving the public; and

USAID - USAID is the lead U.S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential.

Spending less than 1 percent of the total federal budget, USAID works in over 100 countries to:

 • Promote broadly shared economic prosperity;

 • Strengthen democracy and good governance;

 • Protect human rights;

 • Improve global health,

 • Advance food security and agriculture;

 • Improve environmental sustainability;

 • Further education;

 • Help societies prevent and recover from conflicts; and

 • Provide humanitarian assistance in the wake of natural and man-made disasters.
