About this opportunity

The United States Air Force Academy's 10th Contracting Squadron is seeking to procure a Particle Imaging Velocimetry system through a firm fixed price contract. This procurement falls under the Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing NAICS code (334516) and Laboratory Equipment and Supplies PSC category (6640). The system must comply with salient characteristics detailed in Attachment 1 of the solicitation package. This is a combined synopsis and solicitation prepared under FAR Subpart 12.6 for commercial products, meaning no separate written solicitation will be issued and quotes are being requested directly. The solicitation was posted on August 15, 2025, with quotes due by August 22, 2025, providing contractors with only one week to prepare and submit their responses. The government reserves the right to cancel the solicitation before or after the closing date and bears no liability for quote preparation costs.

This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting participation to qualifying small businesses. The contract performance will take place at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado (zip code 80840). No incumbent contractors or potential award values are specified in the available documentation. The solicitation includes standard provisions and clauses in Attachment 2, along with specific requirements for the Balance of Payments Program Certificate and Tax on Certain Foreign Procurements representations in Attachments 3 and 4 respectively. The procurement appears to be for a single Particle Imaging Velocimetry system based on the solicitation title and structure, though specific quantity details would be contained within the salient characteristics attachment. The tight timeline suggests this may be an urgent requirement for the Air Force Academy's research or educational mission.
