All aircraft receive liquid wax application. Painting involves comprehensive exterior restoration including airframe stripping, biological debris removal, structural repairs to sheet metal and fiberglass, and bird-proofing installation. Work must comply with USAF Technical Orders 1-1-8 and 1-1-4 and FAA Advisory Circular 43.13-1B, using PPG AUE-360/AUE-3501 or equivalent 2K high-solids urethane coatings with historically accurate semi-gloss finishes and Federal Standard 595 color specifications. Aircraft are painted approximately every five years; a three-year workmanship guarantee is required. Performance is at USAF Academy, Colorado 80840, FOB Destination.
NAICS 488190 applies with a $40 million size standard. Prospective vendors must be registered in SAM.gov and include UEI, CAGE Code, small business designation, past performance on similar federal contracts, and clarification of capability to perform both services or only one.
