About this opportunity
The US Geological Survey (USGS) has issued a Special Notice related to the Landsat Next Mission Operations Center (MOC), providing additional information following a previously issued Request for Information (RFI). This notice is informational in nature and does not constitute a solicitation or create any government obligation. The notice references two attached documents: a Landsat Next MOC Functions Summary and a Landsat Flight Operations Project Operations Configuration Management Policy. NASA has also posted an announcement for a Landsat Next Spacecraft Procurement Industry Week, which includes mission and spacecraft documents available on sam.gov. The notice is part of an ongoing joint-agency NASA/USGS mission to develop and mature mission operations capabilities.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors about the evolving Landsat Next mission and provide technical insights into mission operations center functions and configuration management. While no specific contractor eligibility criteria are outlined, the notice suggests potential opportunities in engineering services and technology studies, as indicated by the NAICS and PSC categories. The attached documents detail critical aspects such as Mission Operations Center functions, including telemetry and command, orbit dynamics, planning and scheduling, and data processing capabilities. The Configuration Management Policy establishes formal processes for managing configuration items, change requests, and configuration control boards across the Landsat mission. Interested parties are encouraged to review the detailed documents and can contact ckuhn@usgs.gov with any questions about the Landsat Next mission and potential future contracting opportunities.
