About this opportunity

The Drug Enforcement Administration issued a sole-source acquisition notice on May 18, 2026, to procure Skydio R10 drones through a firm-fixed-price purchase order with Atlantic Diving Supply, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The estimated contract value is $158,340 with delivery by August 30, 2026. This is not a recurring requirement.

The DEA justifies sole-source procurement on the basis that the Skydio R10's integrated, autonomous, 360-degree collision-avoidance capability is essential for safe operation in unknown conditions and locations, and no other U.S.-based manufacturer currently offers a comparable all-around 360-degree AI collision-avoidance system with the same level of autonomy. Market research confirmed other U.S.-manufactured drones lack equivalent capabilities and cannot be modified within acceptable timeframes or costs. Atlantic Diving Supply is the only authorized government and defense reseller for this platform. NDAA compliance factored in the evaluation, and the contracting officer has determined price is fair and reasonable.

In accordance with FAR 5.207(c)(16)(ii), vendors believing they can meet the Government's requirements may submit a capability statement for consideration by May 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. The Government retains sole discretion to open the requirement to competition or maintain sole-source award. Submit capability statements electronically to Kenny.J.Douangmala@dea.gov. The acquisition will proceed under FAR Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures.
