About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 81 TURRET FLIR UNIT repair/modification components with National Stock Number 7R-1680-016715197-YR. This pre-solicitation notice indicates a highly specialized procurement requiring engineering source approval from the design control activity. Only previously approved sources will be considered, and potential bidders must submit comprehensive technical data demonstrating their capability to produce or repair the flight-critical component. The solicitation emphasizes strict qualification procedures, with interested parties required to provide detailed information from the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures. Vendors must submit their proposal and source approval documentation by May 9, 2025, with the understanding that the government may proceed with award based on fleet support needs, even if source approval is not fully processed.
No specific set-aside categories are designated for this opportunity, and the pre-solicitation does not identify incumbent contractors or potential award values. The procurement involves a precise technical requirement for 81 units with delivery specified as FOB Origin, suggesting a specialized military aerospace component. The government has determined that standard commercial item acquisition policies (FAR Part 12) will not apply to this solicitation. Potential vendors have a 15-day window from the January 16, 2025 posting date to communicate their interest and capability to meet the government's requirements. The procurement falls under Product Service Code 1680 for Miscellaneous Aircraft Accessories and Components, highlighting the technical complexity and specific nature of the required equipment.
