About this opportunity
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), operating under the Department of Energy (DOE), is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential suppliers for two turbomolecular pumps and associated controllers to be used in the Tritium Extraction Facility at the Savannah River Site. The RFI seeks detailed specifications for pumps with specific technical requirements, including a DN 160 CF inlet flange, DN 25 ISO-KF outlet connection, and precise pumping speeds for hydrogen, nitrogen, and helium. Suppliers must provide manufacturer specification sheets, standard lead times, and budgetary cost estimates, with responses due by 5:00 p.m. EST on February 25, 2025. The pumps must have unique characteristics such as Maglev bearings, all-metal construction, water cooling, and capability to operate in radiation environments. Responses should be submitted via email to Barbara McCarty and will be used for market research purposes, with no guarantee of selection for a future Request for Proposal (RFP).
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designations for this procurement, and the opportunity is open to all qualified manufacturers in the Pump and Compressor Manufacturing (NAICS 33391) category. The current reference pump is a Pfeiffer TMU 400MPH turbomolecular pump with a Pfeiffer TCM 1601 controller, suggesting potential incumbent or comparable manufacturers might be interested. While no explicit budget range is provided, suppliers are expected to include estimated costs in their responses. The procurement is for two complete pump systems, to be installed in a glovebox within the Tritium Extraction Facility located on the 310 square mile Savannah River Site complex near Aiken, South Carolina. The RFI represents an initial market research phase to gather information and assess potential supplier capabilities before a formal solicitation is released.
