About this opportunity
The Naval Research Laboratory, under the Department of the Navy's Office of Naval Research, has issued a Sources Sought Notice seeking industry capability information for a Tunable Laser Optical Parametric Oscillator system. This highly specialized laboratory equipment must provide a fully automated picosecond laser light source with precise technical specifications including shot noise limited stimulated Raman scattering microscopy performance, pulse widths of 2-5 picoseconds, and spectral bandwidth of 10 cm-1 or better. The system requires OPO signal tunability from 700-990 nm and OPO idler tunability from 1080-1950 nm, along with integrated electrical-optical modulation at 20 MHz and additional outputs for second harmonic generation. Vendors must demonstrate field service capabilities including on-site technician support for installation, training, and maintenance, plus provide a minimum one-year warranty. Interested parties must submit capability statements by September 15, 2025, responding to this market research initiative that will inform potential future procurement planning.
This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all responsible sources capable of meeting the technical requirements. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the notice, nor are any budget ranges or estimated award values disclosed at this preliminary market research stage. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and PSC code 6640 for Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. The system's primary applications include stimulated Raman scattering microscopy and producing squeezed light for high-precision scientific research. The government emphasizes this is solely an informational request with no guarantee of future solicitation, and assumes no financial responsibility for response preparation costs.
