About this opportunity
The US Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District intends to award a sole source purchase order for Trimble Equipment Warranty renewal services, specifically Hardware Protection Plus and Software Protection Plus subscription plans covering geospatial survey equipment and software used by the Geospatial section in the Land Resources Program. The procurement seeks to maintain and enhance the operational readiness of Trimble survey equipment by providing annual subscription-based warranty coverage that includes accidental damage protection and firmware/software updates to ensure equipment remains current with the latest releases. The evaluation will be based on the sole source justification, which establishes that Trimble is the exclusive manufacturer of the protection plans for its equipment and that Precision Laser and Instrument (PLI) is the only authorized Trimble dealer within a 240-mile radius of the LRP District Office. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 17, 2026, with a due date of March 21, 2026, providing a four-day window for interested parties to submit questions or comments.
This procurement uses no set-aside designation and is being awarded as a sole source purchase under the simplified acquisition threshold authority. Precision Laser and Instrument, Inc., located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania with five additional locations across the LRP District (Akron, Ohio; Bridgeport, West Virginia; Columbus, Ohio; and Huntington, West Virginia), is identified as the incumbent contractor and sole source provider. While the specific dollar value is not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the procurement falls within the simplified acquisition threshold, indicating the contract value is at or below the SAT limit. The primary objective of this warranty renewal purchase is to minimize equipment downtime and maximize equipment utilization across the Geospatial survey program, thereby improving the overall mission readiness of the Land Resources Program's survey operations.
