About this opportunity
The Department of Agriculture Forest Service Research Service Pacific Northwest Research Station has issued a Special Notice regarding tree tagging and measurement services for the Improved Seed Deployment Trial. This notice announces the agency's intent to issue a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) call under FAR 13.303 for acquiring specialized forestry services. The work involves comprehensive tree assessment activities including tagging, measuring various tree characteristics, and geolocating seedlings across nine trial sites. This opportunity is set aside for small businesses and falls under the Support Activities for Forestry classification (NAICS 115310). The posting date is August 18, 2025, indicating this is a current contracting opportunity within the federal procurement system.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to conduct detailed measurements and documentation of seedlings as part of a forestry research trial, specifically measuring condition, basal diameter, height increment, and total height while using provided GPS units for geolocation. Contractors must submit their responses by September 1, 2025, providing a tight two-week window for proposal preparation. Eligibility is strictly limited to current holders of the Land Management Integrated Resources (LMIR) BPA, as this action will be conducted under FAR 13.303-5 for placing calls against the existing competitive BPA framework. The BPA was previously awarded to multiple small businesses through a competitive process, ensuring only pre-qualified contractors with established agreements can participate. This procurement approach streamlines the contracting process while maintaining competitive opportunities among the pre-selected BPA holders for this specialized forestry research support work.
