About this opportunity
The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), a civilian agency within the Department of Energy, is seeking to procure specific electrical equipment from Travis Pattern, focusing on brand name swage compression fittings and bus supports for transmission conductor hardware. The solicitation (89503425QWA001007) requires vendors to provide aluminum pipe bus supports, aluminum swage expansion bus supports, and compression connectors to be delivered to their South Dakota Maintenance facility in Huron. Quotes must be submitted via email to Contracting Officer M Kris Pfeifle by February 11, 2025, and must include detailed delivery lead times for all contract line items. This is a brand name sole source procurement, meaning no alternative brands will be considered, with vendors required to match exact specifications for critical electrical infrastructure components. The solicitation emphasizes precise technical requirements, including specific models for 230V supports and 4" splice connectors.
The contract is designated as a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS category 335999 (All Other Miscellaneous Electrical Equipment and Component Manufacturing), with a size standard of 100 employees. The total procurement includes 75 units of AL Pipe 230V bolted bus supports (for 3" and 5" bolt circles), 56 Deutsch PLK1000D64 4" splice compression connectors, and 30 aluminum swage expansion bus supports. Delivery terms are FOB destination to the Huron, SD facility, and the procurement is structured as a firm fixed-price award. The single source justification documents indicate that WAPA has specific tooling and dies for Travis Pattern fittings, and these components have a proven performance history in their existing substation infrastructure. Vendors must carefully review the technical specifications and be prepared to meet the exact requirements for these specialized electrical hardware components.
