About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command through Puget Sound Naval Shipyard is soliciting a non-personnel services contract to rebuild two DC travel motors with specifications ranging from 10hp-10.8hp, 120v-250v, and 1150rpm-1200rpm. The contractor must provide complete motor rebuilding services including initial inspection, comprehensive testing, rewinding armature and field coils, replacing bearings, dynamic balancing, and installing new components, with all work to be performed at the vendor's location. Key requirements include performing electrical tests such as Megger and surge tests, providing detailed PDF condition reports, and coordinating pickup and delivery of the motors back to the shipyard in fully operational condition. Offerors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and demonstrate capability to meet IEEE standards with zero deviation tolerance as outlined in the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan. The solicitation deadline is June 25, 2025, with quotes to be submitted via email to Contract Specialist David Willey and Contracting Officer Brian Fergus in Microsoft Word or PDF format with the subject line "N4523A25Q0029 Travel Motor Repair."
This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside opportunity under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a size standard of $34,000,000. The contract is structured as a firm fixed-price arrangement with a projected performance period of seven weeks from the date of award. The two travel motors requiring rebuild are identified by serial numbers 7-018 and 7-019 and are currently located at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. The contractor will be responsible for transporting the motors to their facility for the rebuild work and returning them fully assembled and tested to operational specifications. Documentation indicates this solicitation has evolved from an earlier Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) set-aside designation, though the current posting specifies it as a Total Small Business opportunity.
