About this opportunity
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued a Special Notice regarding a sole-source contract with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) for public transit services and a method to pay transit subsidy costs for NRC employees eligible for the federal transit benefit. As the operator of the Washington Metrorail System and the sole provider of transit subsidies in the Washington metro area, WMATA is the only entity that can facilitate the NRC employee transit subsidy program.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to inform interested parties that the NRC intends to enter into a sole-source contract with WMATA for a one-year base period plus four option years, starting on July 1, 2024. The authority to enter into this sole-source contract is provided under 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1, which allows for limiting competition in situations where the required services are only available from a single responsible source. The deadline for this opportunity is June 3, 2024, and there are no set-aside requirements. The contract will facilitate the NRC's employee transit subsidy program, which provides eligible employees with a method to pay for their public transit expenses.
