About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 16 units of a specialized Towed Body, Sonar component with National Stock Number 7H-5845-015124766. The government intends to negotiate with a single source under FAR 6.302-1 authority, indicating a potential sole-source procurement. All responsible sources may submit their interest and capability to respond to the requirement within 45 days of the pre-solicitation notice's publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). The solicitation will require that the offeror, product/service, or manufacturer meet specific qualification requirements at the time of award, in accordance with FAR clause 52.209-1. Interested parties can obtain relevant military specifications and standards through the DoD Single Stock Point's Document Automation and Production Service, with most documents available through ASSIST-Online.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this procurement. The contract does not appear to have a publicly disclosed estimated award value, but involves the acquisition of 16 sonar-related units with Technical Data Package Version 008. The government has determined it would be uneconomical to purchase the data rights or reverse engineer the part, which suggests a unique or specialized component. Potential vendors have 15 days to identify whether they can satisfy the requirement with a commercial item. The delivery terms are FOB Origin, and the final proposal due date is February 14, 2025. The procurement falls under Product Service Code 5845 for Underwater Sound Equipment, targeting a highly specific naval technology requirement.
