About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, is conducting an industry day on October 7, 2026, to discuss a beneficial use of dredge material project planned as an option in the next Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway maintenance dredging contract, solicited in late Spring or early Summer 2027. The Piney Island project involves placing approximately 8,000 cubic yards of dredged material across 9.3 acres of degraded brackish marsh at the northern tip of Piney Island in Carteret County, North Carolina, targeting a final elevation of 1.15 feet NAVD88 (plus or minus 0.25 feet, capped at 1.4 feet NAVD88). Two sediment sources are under consideration: Core Creek reaches within the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and Wainwright Slough, both located 12 to 15 miles from the placement site. The industry day meeting will be held at 1:00 PM EST via Teams, with individual breakout sessions available by request. Interested contractors must RSVP no later than 3:00 PM ET on October 2, 2026, to Jenifer Garland (jenifer.m.garland@usace.army.mil) and Sonny Smith (sonny.z.smith@usace.army.mil), indicating whether they plan to attend the group meeting and whether they request a breakout session.
