About this opportunity

The Naval Research Laboratory seeks quotes for a thermionic electron gun producing two round electron beams of 1.0 ampere each at 20 kilovolts, with proposals due October 2, 2026. This is a 100 percent Women-Owned Small Business set-aside.

Place of performance is Washington, DC. The electron gun must operate in a shielded-cathode configuration with custom electrode geometry and pole piece design provided by NRL, featuring a vanadium permendur anode pole piece with operating temperatures between 950–1250°C. Critical tolerances are specified to the thousandth of a millimeter, including cathode-to-anode spacing of 0.012 millimeters and surface finish of 0.0002 millimeters Ra on the vanadium permendur anode pole piece. The assembly must fit within a 1.890-inch diameter hole for external solenoid magnet clearance. The procurement consists of four units of the 2-beam electron gun at 20 kV under firm fixed price, plus one non-recurring engineering charge. Delivery is scheduled for June 2027 to NRL, 4555 Overlook Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20375-5328. The NAICS code is 334513 (size standard 750 employees), and the PSC code is 6640. Quotations must include open market or GSA pricing, price expiration dates, Federal Tax ID and CAGE code, manufacturer name and country of origin, and confirmation that terms are acceptable without modification. Evaluation uses a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable approach, with past performance rated on an acceptable or unacceptable basis. The contracting officer is Teigh Cheyney, 202-875-9897 or tahesha.c.cheyney.civ@us.navy.mil.
