About this opportunity
The Department of the Army's Fort Knox Qualified Recycle Program is soliciting bids for the sale of scrap deformed small arms fired cartridge casings, totaling approximately 41,177.15 pounds. The solicitation covers multiple calibers including .50 caliber, 9 mm, 5.56 mm, and 7.62 mm cartridge casings, which are demilitarized and packaged in gaylord boxes. Potential bidders must submit their proposals by April 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, with bids to be emailed directly to Jamie Daley and Tara Mounce. Bidders are required to provide proof of SAM account, DUNS number, and CAGE code for vetting purposes. The evaluation will likely focus on the submitted price, ability to meet pickup requirements, and compliance with solicitation terms.
The contract opportunity is not designated with any specific set-aside status and is open to all qualified bidders. The place of performance is Fort Knox, Kentucky, with the winning bidder required to provide a 53 ft. van trailer for transporting the scrap materials. Payment terms stipulate that 80% of the invoice will be due at pickup, with the remaining balance due within 15 calendar days, to be paid to the U.S. Treasury Department via approved payment methods such as bank draft, cashier's check, certified check, traveler's check, or postal money order. The Fort Knox QRP will provide a forklift to assist with loading, and the selected contractor must complete pickup within 10 working days of award. While no specific award value is mentioned, the quantity of approximately 41,177.15 pounds of scrap cartridge casings suggests a potentially significant transaction for the right recycling merchant wholesaler.
