About this opportunity
The United States Marine Corps published a Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice for the procurement of test support watercraft to provide critical safety infrastructure for maritime demonstrations, experiments, testing, and evaluations. The justification supports the acquisition of one 38-foot Defiant NXT watercraft from Gravois Aluminum Boats, LLC under GSA Multiple-Award Schedule contract GS07F0362T, with a total estimated cost of $1,900,000 to be funded across fiscal years 2024-2028. The Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity justified the sole source procurement by citing that their current test support watercraft have exceeded their useful life and that market research confirmed Gravois is the only vendor with existing inventory meeting the government's specific requirements for maritime testing in challenging environments. The watercraft will support developmental testing of the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle, continued testing of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Family of Vehicles, and Department of the Navy rapid prototyping efforts for maritime autonomous systems. Gravois offers an eight-to-ten-month delivery timeline, which is 18 months faster than typical market lead times, making it the sole viable option for meeting the Marine Corps' urgent operational requirements.
