About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command has published a Special Notice regarding the establishment of a qualification requirement for tailor-made flight suits for members of the Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron. This notice is published in accordance with FAR Subpart 9.2, which governs qualification requirements for federal contracting. The Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron is seeking contractors capable of producing custom flight suits that meet specific safety, operational, and mission requirements. The uniforms must maintain the iconic and recognizable design standards associated with the elite demonstration team. The agency anticipates beginning contract awards subject to this qualification requirement in August 2025.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to establish qualification standards for contractors before they can compete for production contracts for these specialized flight suits. Interested contractors must demonstrate their capability by manufacturing and submitting four sample flight suits in specific colors: two in Royal Blue, one in Navy Blue, and one in Anniversary Yellow. The qualification process requires contractors to measure four individuals in person and produce four prototypes for evaluation to ensure compliance with design uniformity, safety, and technical requirements. Contractors seeking to participate should submit requests for information and opportunities to the Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron at nfds_supply@us.navy.mil. The agency will notify applicants within approximately one year following submission whether their products passed or failed the qualification testing process.
