About this opportunity
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a sole source contract modification to The Boeing Company for Fiscal Year 2026 P-8A Poseidon Deployment Mechanism Kits. The procurement includes both the mechanism kits and associated support services such as disassembly, inspection, cleaning, assembly, and testing of P-8A aircraft components including actuators, fairings, and electrical and fiber harnesses. The contract will be awarded under the statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition pursuant to Title 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, as Boeing is identified as the only responsible source capable of meeting the government's requirements. Boeing possesses the exclusive design, development, and manufacturing capabilities along with the requisite technical knowledge and data necessary to fulfill these specialized requirements on schedule. Companies interested in potential subcontracting opportunities are directed to contact Boeing directly through their designated representative. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on August 11, 2025, with a due date of August 26, 2025.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and Boeing is confirmed as both the incumbent contractor and sole source provider for these specialized aircraft components. The base contract calls for a quantity of five Deployment Mechanism Kits, with additional options available for one additional Deployment Mechanism Kit, one Mechanism test stand, and one Mechanism repair manual. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed within 21 months following contract award, indicating a substantial performance timeline for manufacturing and delivery of these complex aircraft systems. The procurement falls under NAICS code 336411 for Aircraft Manufacturing and PSC code 1680 for Miscellaneous Aircraft Accessories and Components. No specific contract values or budget ranges were disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, though the multi-year nature and specialized requirements suggest a significant procurement investment.
