About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has published a Special Notice regarding the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System for Central and Southern Florida Project for Flood Control and Other Purposes. The Corps intends to solicit the highly specialized brand name components for the SCADA system, and related software/maintenance, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 6.302-1.

The purpose of this Notice is to conduct market research and determine the availability of other qualified sources that can provide the software and maintenance for the SCADA system. The SCADA system allows the non-federal sponsor, South Florida Management District (SFWMD), to remotely operate environmental restoration and flood control structures, including the S-12 structures, during severe storm events. This Notice is not a request for competitive proposals, and the government is not obligated to pay for any information received from potential sources. All responses must be submitted within 10 days of the posting of this notice, and the government will make a determination on whether to allow alternate system manufacturers based on the information received.

Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to solicit, on a sole source basis, the highly specialized brand name components for the SCADA system, and related software/maintenance. The system may be a life safety critical system, in that is has a direct impact on the life safety of individuals living within the SFWMD area during a storm even due to the ability to control floodings by operation of the various gates and pumps.

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS.

This Notice is a market research tool being used to determine the availability of other qualified sources that can provide the software and maintenance identified above. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this notice of intent. All responses received within 10 days of the posting of this notice of intent will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
