About this opportunity

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), under the Department of the Interior's Office of Acquisitions and Grants, has published a Special Notice regarding the procurement of a SAMI-pCO2 sensor from Sunburst Sensors LLC. This notice announces the agency's intention to award a non-competitive purchase order for this specialized environmental monitoring equipment. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334519 (Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing) and PSC code 6680 (Liquid and Gas Flow, Liquid Level, and Mechanical Motion Measuring Instruments). The notice was posted on January 20, 2026, with a response deadline of January 23, 2026. This is informational notice only and does not constitute a competitive solicitation.

The USGS seeks to acquire an additional SAMI-pCO2 sensor to maintain consistency with existing datasets previously purchased by the New England Water Science Center in 2024 and currently deployed at established monitoring sites. The purchase will ensure operational continuity and leverage existing staff training in equipment installation, operation, and maintenance. Sunburst Sensors LLC is identified as the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of the SAMI-pCO2 instrument, justifying the non-competitive procurement under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). While the notice is being published for informational purposes in accordance with FAR 5.207, allowing any responsible source to submit a response, the government intends to proceed with the non-competitive award. All interested vendors must be registered with SAM.gov to be eligible for contract award, and the anticipated contract will be structured as a firm, fixed-price agreement. Contractors should direct inquiries to sruggles@usgs.gov.
