About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 4 units of a specific sum transmitter for aircraft, identified by NSN 7R-1680-015612485-E7. This pre-solicitation notice indicates a highly technical procurement that requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain part quality. The contract opportunity emphasizes the importance of existing unique design capabilities, engineering skills, and manufacturing/repair knowledge held by currently approved sources. Potential contractors must understand that the approved sources retain critical data rights and technical knowledge essential to the part's quality. The qualification process for an alternate source will require strict adherence to procedures approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity, with full evaluation and validation of manufacturing capabilities.
This pre-solicitation notice does not include a specific set-aside designation, suggesting the opportunity is open to broader competition. The contract posting was made on January 14, 2025, with a response deadline of April 30, 2025, providing potential vendors approximately three and a half months to prepare their submissions. While specific award value details are not disclosed, the procurement is for a small quantity of four units, indicating a potentially limited but specialized contract. The Product Service Code (PSC) of 1680 classifies this as a procurement for miscellaneous aircraft accessories and components, suggesting a niche market for highly specialized aerospace equipment. The delivery terms are specified as FOB Origin, which means the buyer assumes responsibility for the goods once they leave the seller's designated shipping point.
