About this opportunity

The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, New Jersey is seeking information regarding replacement of an obsolete Stationary Magnetic Particle Unit (SMPU) (NSN: 6636-01-362-9184, PN: GB-3509-01). This is a Request for Information (RFI) only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or binding contract opportunity at this time. The government intends to replace the obsolete inventory with the same model and part number to maintain capability, supply support, and technical manual coverage. Interested vendors should submit information demonstrating their capability to complete this replacement, with responses due no later than 7 days after the post date of March 5, 2026. Responses must be submitted to Paras Patel at paras.d.patel.civ@us.navy.mil and must include company name, address, point of contact information, and company size, with all submissions referencing the RFI number and marking proprietary data on a page-by-page basis.

This RFI is issued with no set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractor or current vendor information is specified in the notice. The government has indicated that it does not own the complete build-to-print technical data necessary to compete the requirement for new production units, which is why industry input is being solicited to identify feasible approaches and features. No specific award value or budget range is provided in this pre-solicitation notice, as this is an information-gathering phase rather than a formal procurement action. The government explicitly states that it will not be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties responding to this RFI, and that participation in this RFI is not required for consideration in any future Request for Proposal related to this requirement.
