About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 26 units of a specific switch component identified by NSN 1H-5930-017245768-X3, to be delivered to DLA Distribution Norfolk, VA. The proposed contract action will be negotiated under FAR 6.302-1, which allows for single-source procurement when certain conditions are met. Interested parties may submit proposals, quotations, or capability statements within 45 days of the notice's publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). The government will evaluate responses to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement, with the final decision solely at their discretion. All responsible sources are invited to identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement, though the government is not using FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this contract opportunity. The procurement involves a Product Service Code (PSC) of 5930 for switches, with a unique characteristic being that the government does not own the rights to use the data needed to purchase or repair this part from alternative sources. The government has determined it is uneconomical to reverse engineer the part.
