About this opportunity

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), a component of the Department of Justice, intends to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for the procurement of specialty gases and tank rentals to support operations at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. The solicitation will be open to both small and large businesses and is classified under NAICS code 325120 (Industrial Gas Manufacturing), with the Small Business Size Standard set at 1,200 employees. The procurement covers nine specialty gas products in various cylinder and tank sizes, including ultra-high purity (UHP) grades of argon, nitrogen, methane, helium, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and oxygen, as well as Coleman-grade carbon dioxide and zero-grade compressed air. The RFQ will be issued on or around March 4, 2026, with vendors encouraged to express interest by emailing Contracting Officer Adelle Bolton at albolton@fbi.gov on or before the March 13, 2026 deadline, including the reference number "Specialty Gases-RFQ-PR-26-000371" in the subject line. No evaluation criteria are specified in this pre-solicitation notice, as vendors will be solicited directly via email based on their expressed interest and point of contact information.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation and no incumbent contractor or award value information has been disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. Interested vendors who respond with valid points of contact may receive the solicitation directly via email rather than through SAM.gov, though the government reserves the right to post the RFQ publicly on SAM.gov if adequate competition is not received through direct solicitation. The notice does not specify quantities, contract duration, or estimated award values, as this is a preliminary notification intended to identify qualified specialty gas suppliers. Telephonic inquiries will not be accepted, and all vendor communications must be submitted in writing via email. The expedited timeline, with the RFQ issuance expected within one day of the pre-solicitation posting and a ten-day response window, indicates this is a time-sensitive requirement for the FBI's operations at the Alabama facility.
