Notice text

The US Forest Service (USFS) has an on-going need for adequate types and quantities of Long-Term Fire Retardants for Wildland Fire Management to accomplish fire management activities safely, efficiently, and effectively (Forest Service Manual 5160.2). To accomplish this, the USFS has an established testing and approval procedure for testing products proposed to be used by the USFS and its Federal cooperators during wildland fire management operations. Products submitted under the established Qualification Requirement (QR) must meet Forest Service Specification 5100-304c with amendments.

The current specification for Long-Term Retardants can be found on the Wildland Fire Chemical Systems website at www.fs.fed.us/rm/fire/wfcs/documents/304c.pdf. The Forest Service regularly reviews and updates this specification.
