About this opportunity
The Department of Defense's 410th Contracting Support Brigade/Regional Contracting Office - Miami has issued a Special Notice for SOUTHCOM Wireless Services in support of US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) located in Doral, Florida. The agency intends to issue a Firm Fixed Price Task Order as a sole source procurement under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), citing that only one source is capable of providing the required services. The procurement covers cellular phone service, unlimited data MiFi/hotspot internet device data service, and international service for SOUTHCOM operations. The contracting office has determined that the proposed candidate is the only authorized contractor capable of providing these wireless services. This determination is based on a Policy Memorandum that directs all DOD entities to use NAVSUP FLC San Diego awarded DOD Wireless Services Contracts (Spiral 4).
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the contracting community of the government's intent to proceed with a sole source procurement for wireless telecommunications services, while providing an opportunity for other potential contractors to express their capabilities. The notice explicitly states that it is not a request for competitive quotes and that no solicitation documents are available. However, any business believing it can provide SOUTHCOM Wireless Services may submit written notice to the contracting officer at cristina.a.tellechea.civ@mail.mil by July 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST. The government plans to post an approved limited source justification at a later date to support their sole source determination. Telephone requests will not be accepted, and contractors must follow the written notification process if they wish to challenge the sole source approach. The overall opportunity falls under NAICS code 517112 for Wireless Telecommunications Carriers and PSC code DG11 for IT and Telecom Network services.
