About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of qualifying and producing two critical aircraft components: the Digital Interface Assembly (DIA) and Bus Buffer Assembly (BBA) for the BRU-57/A Smart Bomb Rack used on F-16 Fighter aircraft. The DIA provides firing pulses to release stores from the bomb rack, while the BBA divides signals from the aircraft stores management system to monitor and update loaded weapons. The government does not own technical data, drawings, or schematics for these items, creating a significant impediment to competition. Interested parties must demonstrate their capability to meet the military-unique requirements and ensure equipment compatibility by emailing their interest and capabilities no later than August 13, 2025. The government intends to use Other Than Full and Open Competition procedures under FAR 6.302-1, citing only one responsible source exists that can satisfy agency requirements.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and L3Harris (CAGE 82340), formerly EDO LLC, is identified as the original equipment manufacturer and intended sole source contractor. L3Harris is currently the only known source with adequate knowledge of BRU-57 performance requirements and possession of the necessary technical data and manufacturing capabilities. The components are identified by specific National Stock Numbers: NSN 5998-01-522-7603 for the DIA (Part Number MT57M1190-3) and NSN 1095-01-523-5773 for the BBA (Part Number MT57E1212-2). The BRU-57/A is a MIL-STD-1760 capable, multiple-carriage, vertical-ejection bomb rack that provides side-by-side carriage and release of two 14-inch suspension stores. No contract values, quantities, or specific timelines for delivery are specified in this sources sought notice, which serves purely for market research purposes with no funding available for response preparation.
