About this opportunity

The USDA Agricultural Research Service is conducting market research to identify domestically sourced digital microscope systems with support packages, with responses due by July 2, 2026. Keyence Corporation of America is identified as a known source; the agency seeks to establish whether additional domestic suppliers are available before proceeding to unrestricted solicitation.

Place of performance is the Animal Disease Biotechnical Facility at the Animal Disease Research Unit in Pullman, Washington. The system must be new and domestically sourced, including all components and a lifetime support package covering calibration, technical support, training, annual calibration, and routine maintenance. If purchased through a non-manufacturer vendor, that vendor must be authorized to deliver a fully valid manufacturer support package.

Technical requirements include high-resolution digital imaging with over 8 million pixels, 27-inch minimum display monitor, 20x–200x magnification without lens switching, integrated stage camera with wide-angle view, 1TB hard drive, dual camera capability, multiple lighting types (brightfield, darkfield, transmitted, polarized, DIC), combination stage/stand with 180-degree rotation and 250-degree tilt, and XY stage movement up to 40mm × 40mm. The system must provide built-in 2D/3D measurement and three-dimensional surface modeling, XY stitching with 1-micron positioning, dynamic range imaging, real-time automatic focus, and automatic detection, counting, classification, and sizing of particulate contamination with industrial cleanliness standard compliance reporting. Delivery is expected within sixty days after award, with installation and a standard one-year manufacturer's warranty included. A specifications file detailing equipment requirements, performance capabilities, and loading dock coordinates has been posted.
