About this opportunity

The US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants is conducting a sources-sought market research to identify qualified propane suppliers; responses are due by May 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM Eastern time. This is not a commitment to issue a solicitation, but an effort to assess capability and interest across small business categories including 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, and EDWOSB firms.

The requirement is for ongoing liquid propane gas delivery to the USGS Conte Research Laboratory in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, a remote location. The facility consumes 18,000 to 20,000 gallons annually with potential peaks of 30,000 gallons during severe winters; the contractor will deliver via automatic fill-up approximately 4 to 6 times per year, with each delivery of roughly 9,000 gallons (50 percent tank capacity) required within seven days of request through a Blanket Purchase Order.

Contractor personnel and vehicles must hold current Massachusetts licenses and permits for fuel delivery and interstate transport, with equipment compatible with the facility's existing storage tank fittings. All deliveries must occur between 7 AM and 3 PM on weekdays excluding federal holidays unless prior arrangements are made. The contractor performs visual tank inspections, documents pre- and post-delivery tank levels, ensures compliance with bridge weight ratings for facility access routes, and communicates service delays or tank concerns to the Technical Liaison. Period of performance begins 10 days from Notice to Proceed.

Interested vendors should contact Dayna Parkin at dayna_parkin@ios.doi.gov. NAICS code 324110 (Petroleum Refineries) applies; PSC 6830 (Gases: Compressed and Liquefied).
