About this opportunity

The Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC), operating under the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command, is conducting a sources sought inquiry for an Electron Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) detector system. The procurement requires a scanning electron microscope EDS detector specifically compatible with a FEI Quanta 450 SEM equipped with a tungsten filament electron source. The detector must be capable of elemental analysis spanning from Boron to Curium, feature a minimum detector size of 60mm, and perform both line scans and mapping functions. Installation must be completed by manufacturer-qualified personnel, with initial operational training provided during installation. The system must operate without internet connectivity or WiFi capabilities and include a one-year warranty, with responses due by July 23, 2025.

This opportunity operates under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and PSC code 6630 for Chemical Analysis Instruments, with no set-aside designation applied. The procurement does not specify any incumbent contractors or provide budget ranges for the anticipated award. No quantity requirements are detailed beyond the single detector unit, and no specific service timeline is outlined beyond the installation and training requirements. The sources sought notice does not include information regarding potential contract values or identify any existing contractors currently providing similar services to the agency.
