About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command's 763rd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron is conducting market research to identify potential sources for 30 Modular Computer Rack Sets to support the Advanced Virtual Threat Reaction and Avoidance Trainer (AVTRAT) system at Scott AFB, Illinois. The procurement requires specialized, stackable server rack modules that must be EIA-310 spec-compliant, constructed entirely of steel with no plastic load-bearing components, and capable of assembly without tools using thumbscrews and wingnuts. Each module must measure 17-20 inches in exterior height with 9U interior height, weigh no more than 30 pounds when empty, and the complete stack of five units must support 1,000 pounds of mounted equipment. The modules must be designed for easy deployment with detachable components rather than being permanently assembled into large, immovable racks. Interested businesses must submit a four-page capabilities statement by 4:00 PM Central Time on September 9, 2025, to demonstrate their ability to meet these technical specifications.
This sources sought announcement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside opportunity under NAICS code 334118 (Computer Terminal and Other Computer Peripheral Equipment Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The procurement specifically targets various small business categories including Small Disadvantaged Businesses, HUBZone firms, Certified 8(a) companies, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, and Woman-Owned Small Businesses. The total requirement consists of 180 individual modules, with each "SET" defined as six modules including two base units with leveling feet and four generic stackable modules. No incumbent contractor or current service provider is mentioned in the announcement, and no budget range or anticipated contract value has been disclosed. This market research effort represents a preliminary step with no current commitment or funding available for response preparation, indicating that a formal solicitation will likely follow based on the responses received.
