About this opportunity

The United States Coast Guard is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify sources capable of manufacturing custom-fabricated intake guards, also known as "Intake Shields," for Cummins engines installed on the 47-foot Motor Lifeboat (47 MLB). These intake shields must protect specific air filter assemblies and be precisely measured, machined, and powder-coated black according to government-provided specifications and technical drawings. Interested vendors must demonstrate experience in custom aluminum fabrication and provide comprehensive business information including size, certifications such as HUB Zone, WOSB, or SDVOSB status, unique entity identification, and CAGE code. The RFI is issued solely for market research and planning purposes under FAR Part 10 and does not constitute a commitment to issue a solicitation or award a contract. Responses must be submitted via email to designated contracting officers by 2:00 PM Eastern on June 27, 2025, with a 10MB file size limit, and the government will not reimburse any costs associated with responding to this RFI.

This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and no current contractors or incumbents are identified in the documentation. The Coast Guard anticipates an initial procurement requirement of 30-40 units, with a projected total of approximately 120 units over a three-year period. The NAICS code for this procurement is 333413 for Industrial and Commercial Fan and Blower and Air Purification Equipment Manufacturing, while the PSC code is 2940 for non-aircraft engine air and oil filters. Shipping will be required to multiple locations on both the East and West Coasts, with packaging and shipping costs to be included in the unit price. No specific award values or budget ranges are disclosed in the RFI documentation. The timeline spans from the current RFI phase through June 27, 2025, with the potential for future solicitation development based on market research results.
