About this opportunity
The Air Force Test Center, on behalf of the 846th Test Squadron, is seeking information regarding existing, in-production, in-depot, or recently produced Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs) for use in sled testing at the Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT). The government is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) to identify readily available motors across four thrust classes—Small (37-60 Klb average thrust, 2.0s burn time), Medium (60-80 Klb, 2.4s), Large (80-200 Klb, 2.5s), and High Performing (139 Klb, 1.543s)—with the objective of reducing operational and acquisition costs and schedules. Respondents must propose only existing motors, not new clean-sheet designs, and motors must comply with specified parameters within a 30% tolerance band. The evaluation will be based on technical and performance compliance data submitted using the provided SRM RFI Template Matrix, structural capability assessment costs for re-analysis under new load cases, production and availability status, and government data rights implications. The deadline for submitting responses is February 12, 2026, with submissions limited to 10 pages in PDF format and directed to Charles King and Brett Moore; classified responses must be submitted separately via JWICS to April Carson and Bob Seastrom.
This pre-solicitation notice does not utilize a set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractors or current award values are identified in the available documentation. The RFI document provides no specific budget range or anticipated award value, as this is an information-gathering phase preceding formal solicitation. Companies are required to provide comprehensive company details including CAGE code, DUNS number, business size per NAICS classification, technical performance data, production status, and information regarding any restart requirements if production is currently inactive. The government will not reimburse respondents for information or administrative costs associated with RFI submission, and all submissions will become government property and will not be returned. Non-response to this RFI does not preclude potential participation in any future Request for Proposal (RFP) related to this procurement.
