About this opportunity
The United States Air Force Academy Band, procured through the Department of the Air Force Space Command's 21st Contracting Squadron, is seeking to acquire one specialized Brannen Brothers Handmade Brogger Flute in 15/85 Gold-Silver Alloy with a JR Lafin by Brannen headjoint. This highly specialized musical instrument features detailed technical specifications including a pinless Brogger mechanism, soldered silver tone holes, French open holes, pointed key arms, white gold springs, and a 14K gold riser headjoint tuned to A=442 professional pitch standard. The procurement is structured as a firm-fixed price purchase order under NAICS code 339992 (Musical Instrument Manufacturing) and is limited to authorized Brannen Brothers dealers and distributors who must provide documentation of their authorization status. Quotes will be evaluated based on price and technical documentation, with the award going to the lowest evaluated price that meets all technical criteria and conformance requirements. Following Amendment 02, questions are due by Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM MDT, with final proposals due by Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM MDT, and delivery required within six months from the date of award.
This acquisition is designated as a 100% total small business set-aside with a size standard of 1,000 employees, limiting competition to small businesses that are also authorized Brannen Brothers dealers or distributors. No incumbent contractors or previous award values are specified in the solicitation documents, and importantly, the government has noted that funds are not presently available for this contract, with the government's obligation contingent upon future appropriated funds availability. The procurement involves acquiring a single high-end flute with an estimated delivery timeline that has been extended from the original 60 days to six months after contract award. Performance will occur with delivery to Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado, though the flute will ultimately serve the United States Air Force Academy Band. Offerors must maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) database throughout the procurement process and potential contract performance period.
