The Smithsonian Institution hereby provides notice of its intention to issue brand-name or equal specification for ETC lighting controls as part of a construction project for installation of Theatrical Lighting Upgrades at its National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC to be issued in early 2017.
The rationale for selecting ETC is that, according to Smithsonian market research, ETC is the only manufacturer that delivers all Smithsonian requirements for lighting controls at NMAI. These requirements include, but are not limited to, a warranty of performance in line with long-term life cycle costs; reasonable standards for part replacement and legacy system support; integration with existing building systems and alignment with future expansion via modularity; DMX smart lighting capabilities; and the demanding range of lighting direction and control requirements needed by the museum. In addition, ETC lighting controls are capable of web-based control of the system and ETC's web-based control platform includes features that are consistent with Smithsonian IT Security Directives.
Please be advised that Smithsonian IT Directives often exceed information technology industry standards and are not waivable. Finally, ETC lighting controls are already installed in other areas of the museum.
The full product requirement matrix and market research supporting this position can be obtained by contacting the Smithsonian's Office of Contracting. In lieu of naming ETC as the brand name or equal standard, the Smithsonian will consider including other manufacturers in the specification that can meet or exceed these requirements. Interested distributors or manufacturers should request and review the full product requirement matrix, and supply cut sheets, product information and design requirements to the Smithsonian's point of contact before December 16, 2016. Once received, the Smithsonian shall refer all submissions to its designer of record for confirmation. If submitted lighting controls meet or exceed the Smithsonian's requirements, the Smithsonian will include same as part of its brand name or equal requirement.
This notice is for information purposes only. Proposals are not being requested.
POC for this request is Eve Errickson, Erricksone@si.edu.
Responses must be received by the named POC by the closing date/time of this notice December 16, 2016 by 2:00 pm ET, unless otherwise amended. Submission via email as follows: Erricksone@si.edu.
Telephone inquiries will not be accepted or acknowledged, and no feedback or evaluations will be provided to companies regarding their submissions.
Interested parties are responsible for routinely checking this website for any amendment to this notice. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Smithsonian, and/or the Smithsonian will not pay for information solicited and submittals will not be returned to the senders.
AGAIN, THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED AS A RESULT OF THIS NOTICE.
