About this opportunity
The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Southern Regional Research Center intends to procure one Size Exclusion Chromatography with Multi-Angle Light Scattering (SEC-MALS) detector instrument, with a pre-solicitation notice response deadline of September 9, 2026.
The system will be delivered to and operated at USDA ARS Southern Regional Research Center, 1100 Allen Toussaint Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124. It will perform automated measurement of molecular weight and branching characteristics of scientific samples, including polysaccharides.
The instrument must be fully automated for sample analysis and data collection, requiring minimal manual input beyond initial setup and sample preparation. It must include an integrated or modular detector array encompassing Refractive Index, Viscometry, and Multi-Angle Light Scattering detectors capable of precise molecular weight and branching quantification. The system must be equipped with all necessary pumps and temperature controllers for high-performance liquid chromatography analysis, columns optimized for typical molecular weight measurements, and software for data collection, advanced analysis, and data export with associated user licenses and interface cables. Professional installation, operational training, and consumables required for immediate operation are included in the procurement.
NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing); PSC 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). No set-aside is anticipated.
