About this opportunity

The Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base, under the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center, is conducting market research for the replacement of service air compressors to determine the availability and technical capability of potential contractors. The government seeks to replace two existing service air compressors in Building 651 with new 50-horsepower rotary compressors that maintain current service air requirements of 220 CFM at 115 psig while improving performance and reliability. Key requirements include demolition and replacement of existing equipment, piping and electrical reconnections, post-installation commissioning, use of factory-trained technicians for installation and verification, operator training, and development of a detailed maintenance schedule, all to be completed within a six-month timeframe. Interested businesses must submit responses by 1:00 PM Central Time on January 19, 2026, via email to Ms. Paytonne Szatkowski and Ms. Bethany R. Hill, including company information, business size classification, CAGE code, SAM.gov UEI, capability package, estimated pricing, and available contract vehicles such as ENCORE II, GSA, or Federal Supply Schedules. The evaluation criteria will focus on technical capability and business size classification, with the market research results potentially resulting in a single-source acquisition, a small business set-aside, or full and open competition.

This opportunity carries no set-aside designation and identifies no current incumbents or named contractors in the sources sought notice. The contract is anticipated to be issued as a firm-fixed price purchase order under NAICS code 333912 (Air and Gas Compressor Manufacturing) with a 1,000-employee business-size standard for small business determination. While specific award value or budget ranges are not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the scope encompasses the replacement of two service air compressors that must fit within the existing 15 feet 6 inches by 14 feet 5 inches concrete pad area. The government will retain unlimited data rights to all technical reports and documentation produced under the contract, and all submitted information becomes government property regardless of whether it receives evaluation or feedback. Potential respondents should note that telephone inquiries will not be accepted or acknowledged during this market research phase.
