About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime is seeking to procure vehicular seats, specifically NSN 2540-12-393-0621, with part number AFG071973-39. This pre-solicitation notice invites potential suppliers to submit information regarding their manufacturing capabilities and interest in providing these specialized seats through a future competitive or sole-source solicitation. Key requirements include the ability to manufacture the seats to the same quality level or better than the currently approved original equipment manufacturer, with potential suppliers required to demonstrate manufacturing competency through technical documentation. The government has indicated that reverse engineering is not economically feasible, making qualified alternative sources highly valuable to the procurement process. Interested parties must submit responses to the Market Survey Questionnaire by November 7, 2025, with inquiries directed to Contract Specialist Zachary Rodriguez at Zachary.rodriguez@dla.mil.
Currently, AUTOFLUG GMBH (CAGE D1131) is the sole approved source for this vehicular seat, as no other source has been identified that can provide the item economically or within the government's current technical capabilities. The procurement requirement specifies a base quantity of 38 seats with a 100% quantity option of 76 additional units, providing potential for significant volume if the option is exercised. This is not a set-aside contract, meaning all eligible contractors regardless of business size classification may compete. Companies interested in becoming qualified as an approved source must submit a Source Approval Request (SAR) package through the DLA Land and Maritime program, which requires comprehensive technical data demonstrating manufacturing capability and product equivalency or superiority to the current OEM standard.

Please review the NSN listed above and provide any sources that may be able to manufacture these items. The approved sources for this NSN are currently listed above. Should a company wish to be reviewed and qualified as an “Approved Source”, they may submit an application package through the DLA Land and Maritime Alternate Offer/Source Approval Request (SAR) Program. A SAR package contains all technical data needed to demonstrate that the prospective contractor can competently manufacture the product to the same level of quality or better than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The onus is on the contractor to document and demonstrate their product is equal to, or better, than the currently approved item which DLA Land and Maritime is procuring.
For further information, please reference the DLA Land Maritime web page shown below and click on the highlight: Alternate Offer/Source Approval Program for detailed explanation for the information and format necessary for a SAR and for the SAR approval process.
