About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Notice to identify manufacturers capable of producing or legitimately obtaining socket head cap screws (NSN 5305-01-088-7426) for the C-130 Hercules aircraft. This pre-solicitation notice seeks qualified suppliers who can meet or exceed the quality standards of the current approved source and demonstrate their manufacturing capability. Interested parties must submit responses by April 8, 2026, including points of contact and manufacturer location information to april.wynn@dla.mil. Respondents should note that this notice is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or commitment by the government to award a contract. Companies wishing to become approved sources must submit an application package through the Source Approval Request (SAR) Program, which requires comprehensive technical documentation demonstrating product equality or superiority to the original equipment manufacturer's item. No evaluation criteria have been specified in this pre-solicitation phase, as responses are voluntary and informational in nature.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation. The current approved sole source supplier is Howmet Global Fastening Systems Inc., which manufactures the item under part number CA21089-4-2HS. No specific award value or quantity requirements are disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, as the document is designed solely to assess market capability and identify alternative suppliers. The NAICS classification for this procurement is 332722 (Bolt, Nut, Screw, Rivet, and Washer Manufacturing), with the PSC category designated as 5305 (Screws). Prospective contractors should understand that while this notice invites responses, actual contract awards will depend on submission of formal SAR packages and the government's evaluation of competitive qualifications during any subsequent formal solicitation.
