About this opportunity

Department of the Army Medical Command posted a Special Notice on August 4, 2026 disclosing Questions and Replies for scleral contact lens supply and fitting services at Brooke Army Medical Center under contract W81K00-26-Q-A234. The Government accepts equivalent scleral lens products from multiple manufacturers meeting salient characteristics, though vendor changes require restarting the fitting process. SmartSight HOA is proprietary BostonSight technology, but equivalent higher-order aberration correction technologies are acceptable. Hydra-PEG coating is clinically indicated only, not required on every order. Lens diameter ranges (16–17 mm and 18–19 mm) are targets, not rigid requirements, reflecting the specialized, customizable nature of scleral fitting. CLIN quantities are estimates for inventory and pricing assessment, not guaranteed minimums. Orders will be issued individually by patient through Wide Area Workflow. All deliveries must reach Brooke Army Medical Center within one week of complete prescription receipt; expedited delivery is two days combined manufacturing and transportation. BostonSight provides a 90-day manufacturing warranty and 120-day unlimited fit exchange period for parameter adjustments at no cost. Contractor must supply on-site trained optometry providers or technicians for patient evaluation and fitting. All proposed products must be FDA-cleared. Pricing should be standardized per contract year by material, coating, and features, with one set price per lens preferred. The Government anticipates significant volume fluctuations as Brooke Army Medical Center is one of four ocular trauma centers expecting increased referrals.
