About this opportunity
The U.S. Air Force Academy is seeking to procure a scientific laser through a competitive solicitation. The laser must be frequency tunable around a central wavelength of 905nm with a tunable range of at least 2nm, operate in continuous wave mode, have a laser power of at least 1.0W before an optical isolator, a frequency linewidth of 100kHz or less, a mode-hop free tuning range of at least 5GHz, include low noise and drift piezoelectric transducers, and have digital display controls with external computer interface. Quotes must be submitted by August 20, 2024 and will be evaluated based on price, technical, and past performance to determine the best value.
This solicitation is set aside for total small business participation. The Place of Performance is the Air Force Academy in Colorado. The government has not identified any potential incumbents or current contractors. The award will be a firm-fixed-price purchase order, but the government has not specified a budget range or quantity requirement.
Notice text
Scientific Laser salient characteristics:
- Frequency tunable about a central wavelength of 905 nm.
- A tunable wavelength range of at least 2 nm around the central wavelength of 905 nm.
- The laser should operate in a continuous wave (cw) mode.
- The laser power before a final optical isolator should be greater than or equal to 1.0 W.
- The frequency linewidth of the laser should be less than or equal to 100 kHz.
- The laser should have a mode-hop free tuning range of greater than or equal to 5 GHz.
- The laser should include low noise and drift piezoelectric transducers for precise frequency adjustment.
- Control for the laser should include a digital display and also allow for external computer interface and control.
- The laser should include a final optical isolator in order to prevent laser feedback into the laser head.
- Inclusion of any necessary temperature controls in order to operate the laser and maintain a precise frequency.
