: US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has a requirement to conduct naturalization ceremonies. Approximately 19 to 23 ceremonies are expected to be performed over the course of the fiscal year for 2016.
The facility needs to accommodate approximately 1,200 applicants for citizenship and also their guests which would be approximately 1,100-1,400 guests. Ceremonies require that the applicants for citizenship seating area be separated from guests. Approximately 40 government and contract employees participate in each ceremony requiring VIP parking for 4 to 6 government vehicles. Minimal set-up time of 30 minutes and the processing of the applicants for citizenship would begin approximately 2 hours before the formal ceremony begins. The formal ceremony is approximately 30 minutes long, followed by an additional 30 minutes to distribute certificates. An additional 30 minutes to 1 hour is needed for additional processing that cannot occur until after the ceremony. The total estimated time the facility is needed is approximately 5-6 hours.
